The Moscow Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) has over 90 volunteers providing fire protection service, and EMS service to the City of Moscow, and EMS service within the Rural Fire District (128 square miles). Presently, there are eight City of Moscow Fire Department employees providing administrative oversight, and three positions as career Paramedic/Firefighters to support our volunteer department.

The Moscow Volunteer Fire Department typically hosts an EMT course once a year, in the Fall. This intensive 120+ hour course fulfills the requirements for the National Registry EMT Examination (NREMT). Course content includes lecture and hands-on practice in emergency care, bleeding and shock, medical emergencies, lifting and moving patients and other emergency care topics.

The Moscow Volunteer Fire Department conducts an annual Fire Academy each Fall, coinciding with the University of Idaho academic calendar. We accept applications to volunteer as a firefighter year round and no experience is required.

Moscow Volunteer Fire Department offers regularly scheduled American Heart Association (AHA) CPR and First Aid classes through the City of Moscow Parks and Recreation Department. Classes are video-based, instructor-led courses that are open to the public. All classes are taught by volunteer EMTs or Paramedics with our department.
